In 1965, Bob and Flo Irwin started a company that sold only one product – aircraft grade hex lumber. Fifty years and countless customers later, Aircraft Spruce has a product line of over one hundred thousand products and a workforce of two hundred. They are proud of their company's heritage and excited that their products enable pilots around the world to build and keep their dream aircraft in flight.

Aircraft Spruce is a proud sponsor of the Flying Club Network and encourages all members to start flying clubs in their communities. When you work with the Flying Clubs team and start a new club, you'll receive a $100 gift card from Aircraft Spruce. In addition, all flying clubs listed in the Flying Club Network can receive up to 5% off purchases with Aircraft Spruce.

Aircraft Spruce has been a sponsor and advertiser for decades and has been a strategic partner since 2012. We are proud to support its efforts to promote the growth of general aviation and protect the rights of pilots. Aircraft Spruce offers its members valuable benefits through special promotions and programs. In 1956, anyone planning to build an experimental aircraft that required high-quality spruce knew that Bob and Flo Irwin had built a solid reputation as the best source of that particular wood for aeronautical applications. Over the next nine years, Irwin grew the company to include pilot equipment and parts requested by the aviation community.

As the company grew and the couple's oldest son, Jim Irwin, moved from sweeping floors to managing an ever-expanding parts catalog, the company's name was changed to Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co. By 1980, Jim and wife Nanci had bought the business. and since then we have developed Aircraft Spruce into one of the best sources in aviation for anything a pilot or experimental builder could order. Today, their sons Mike, Jeff and Rob hold leadership positions in the company.

Under the leadership of the Irwin family, Aircraft Spruce has grown into an extensive network of eight distribution centers that ensure fast and efficient shipments with a 62,000 square foot main distribution center in Corona, California. Fort Worth, Texas; West Chicago; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Peachtree City, Georgia; Wasilla, Alaska; and Brantford, Ontario.

A characteristic that the Irwins have built around Aircraft Spruce is the idea that it is extremely important to listen to their customers, find out what they need, carefully inspect products and keep approximately 10 million individual items in stock . Because of this, anyone who has ever built an experimental designed or built aircraft is sure to have a large stack of Aircraft Spruce invoices in the shop, knowing they can count on them for the parts they need. in storage so their construction can continue.

A full range of pilot equipment - including helmets and flight bags, avionics from all leading manufacturers, training materials and books, a full range of general and specialist instruments and even complete aircraft kits and plans - was a lot of work . . keeps Aircraft Sprune's distribution system growing as their catalog has exploded over the years. “With hundreds of thousands [of inventory units] and millions of individual items, the complexity of our warehousing system has grown in recent years as we've expanded from two distribution facilities in the United States to seven. Canada. The goal is to get the full range of products ordered by the customer to the nearest warehouse, and our warehouse system takes continuous control. We have a highly experienced and professional team in our purchasing department, and their expertise is essential in maintaining stock levels in according to the needs of our customers."
