Military Spouse Questions
No matter how long the deployment is, it's important to address some questions before the bus loads or the plane takes off.
Mission Ready Marriage By Claire Wood
Let's be honest: jobs are routine but completely unpredictable. You need to know everything about everything because your partner is unlikely to be on the phone for help at the drop of a hat.
Of course, not all of these questions are right for every military couple, family, or experience. Use these as a guide, but add (or eliminate) more questions to fit your family's needs.
Preparing for deployment isn't just about packing. This means creating a positive mindset for yourself and managing expectations.
Be sure to ask these questions, but also know that your partner may not have all the answers right now:

Note: Not all units or individuals will have a "block leave" period. A block holiday is when a small part of a larger unit is designated for a vacation or holiday. Once your spouse is granted block leave, they may not have a choice. Other service members may have more flexibility. Asking questions about the vacation ahead of time helps you clarify your expectations!
OK you're over the first shock of "the tribute is coming". Now, you're going to dive deeper into building the home front.
As I discovered mid-deployment, knowing where important documents are is critical to your success and integrity! Make sure they know before you go.
You know the nuts and bolts of running a household solo while your partner is deployed, but you also need a few extra deets...especially about staying in touch.
Questions Raised About Military Spouse Law
Remember, all primary contact information your partner shares with you is a guess. Both dialogue and communication are unpredictable. Get ready to roll with the punches!
Your partner should get all their essentials from the unit. This may include uniforms, boots, sleeping bags, tents and kellers.
However, each service member may wish to be supplied with issued gear. Ask questions to make sure your husband has what he wants in your budget!
Pre-order, anticipating what your partner will need or use in the country. Based on past experience some items are required in certain areas but not issued. Others have personal preferences, such as setting up a laptop for gaming, but not for actual work.
Places To Get Support For Military Divorce
If finances are tight, you and your partner need to have an honest conversation about additional personal gear needs that fit within your budget. You don't want to start these months with extra debt!
Everyone has a different idea of what a vacation should look like. Clean it up and make a plan as soon as you're ready to manage!
Some people prefer to kiss and ride goodbye: leave your person and their belongings and run away. This prevents long, drawn-out farewells and allows everyone to focus on the mission at hand. Others prefer to gather their families there for some or all of the day before the buses or planes load. It can help everyone get closer and process. And still others want their family to see them there, but with the option of running away, emotion should win out.
More than anything else, asking questions can help you and your partner prepare mentally, emotionally, and logistically for any length of deployment.

Should You Disclose Your Military Experience In A Job Application?
I always hated asking this question because, in a way, I knew what military life would be like - frequent moves, separations, and an overall feeling that life was like a revolving door.
But at the same time, I didn't know. Take marriage, for example: You have an idea of what your relationship will look like years from now, but you don't fully understand it until your entire house is covered in white for the third time this week.
The same goes for parents. You can read all the books on child discipline and prepare for the age group, but you're not really ready to fall on your head until you experience a toddler.
Another perfect example is going to college and getting your first job. You study and plan to hit your first job out of the park, but inevitably, you stumble, make mistakes, and make clients "question your abilities."

I'm Lauren, a military spouse and Listening Language® Master Parent Trainer. I write about my crazy parenting adventures, finding joy in motherhood, and navigating the ups and downs of military life. I spend most of the day warming up my kids around the house. Stay a while and join the fun!
I have already received helpful tips to help my wife. I feel connected even though Navy life prevents us from spending time together before deployment. Great course!”
I have more faith. I now have the tools in my gut to work through things instead of feeling helpless. I loved the videos...hearing from Lauren and her personal experience using the tools she gave us. Thank you! Lauren, you put my mind at ease knowing there are tools and ways to get through it! I have noticed a trend on many Facebook groups, Twitter posts, etc. A post will usually start, "It's probably. A stupid question but..."
Answers To Your \
At first, I think most of these answers are obvious. But usually, they are not.
I was afraid of asking questions that would make me look stupid. Actually, I was new to it all. How do I know what I can or cannot do? I don't know any military wives or any other military wives.
I created this list by thinking of answers that I thought were too "stupid" to ask. I guarantee you that every spouse has thought or asked these questions.
Why don't we just get out of the way. Unless you are a member of the military yourself, the category does not apply to you. at all ever

If your spouse is an officer, they are allowed to be out of office. It may be different if it is foreign. Lower enlisted ranks such as E1-E5 are generally required to live in barracks unless they are married and/or have dependents. There are exceptions to this policy but they are at the discretion of the Order.
If your spouse is able to accompany you, it must be posted. Only married military members or military members with dependents are allowed to stay on post... most of the time. You will also not get BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) with dependents. This is more money than solar energy
The military will reimburse you for certain items associated with a PCS move. You have the option to move everything with the army, some you own, or move them all to yourself.
The Army will not pay for any movement unless you order it. They will not pay you to go home during the placement. If your partner is going on an unaccompanied visit, they pay to move you. If you are transferring to a place where your spouse is already settled, they will not pay for your transfer.
